Our SOAR program is a PBIS program created to help all students achive success at Henderson Elementary.

FIRST, WHAT IS A
"PBIS" PROGRAM?
PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. This is a system where we focus on positive reinforcement over negative reinforcement school-wide.
PBIS creates schools where all students succeed.

In order to implement this system to our staff, students and community, we have adopted the saying, "SOAR."

WHAT IS SOAR?
SOAR stands for Safety, Ownership, Achievement, and Respect.
Every staff member here at Henderson uses the language to either reward or discipline student actions. Our main goal is to show students a better way to deal with conflict safely, own up to any mistakes, and truly achieve a safe/inclusive atmosphere while respecting those around us.

Throughout the week, students at Henderson Elementary can earn SOAR tickets for demonstrating behavior that exhibits Safety, Ownership, Achivement, and Respect.
​
Once a month, students are given an opportunity to cash in their tickets for a reward. If you've heard your kiddos talk about the SOAR cart, this is the cart where the students exchange tickets for a reward of their choice. Items are available in increments of 5 tickets, from 5 to 100.
